Description:
Looking for a structural engineer to calculate span, snow load, etc and recommend beam and joist sizes for converting a trussed attic space to a usable room.  House is in the mountains of Southern California.  Space to be converted is approximately 40x20 with 2x4 framed load bearing walls on the perimeter and down the middle. Foundation is stem wall concrete block on 24” footings. More details to follow.  Project will not be permitted and builder is an experienced framer. Mostly the point of this project is a safety double check on the builder’s recommended beam and joist sizes.
