Service Description:
The basics:

• experienced attorney, licensed & admitted in NY, not currently practicing;
• available for personal or professional writing, editing, proofreading;
• variety of writing/editing experience including, a bar menu, short stories, legal articles/memoranda, annual reports, press releases, concert/album reviews;
• fast, professional turnaround;
• it's much more interesting if you read the paragraphs below;
• good sense of humor.

I have been writing short stories (proudly displayed on refrigerators, in classrooms & even one public library) & poems (refrigerators only) since I could hold a pencil. Graduated from NYU (communications, cum laude) in 2001 & from Syracuse University College of Law (magna cum laude) in 2005. During this time, I wrote academic papers ranging from media education (yes, I got an A) to copyright protection (published--even better than an A!), to the loss of indigenous languages (do you even have to ask?), worked as a research assistant for a law school professor, & interned for a federal judge, researching & writing case decisions/memoranda.

Because I am an excellent multitasker, was a poor college student, & require very little sleep, during this time I also wrote/designed the menu for the pub where I kept the books in the daytime & kept the bar in the nighttime, learned some basic video editing, logged music videos & assisted in artist interviews during internships at MTV & Epic Records, drove teenagers to horseback riding lessons in Jersey, ran payroll in an accounting office & errands for an independent filmmaker, & worked at a dry cleaner, fast food restaurants, a hotel...you get the picture. (I have never been fired.)

After law school, I accepted a job at a large NYC firm where I practiced from 2005 through 2007, took a leave of absence from 2007 to 2008, & returned to work 2008-2009. During this time, I assisted in writing &/or editing annual reports, registration statements & other SEC-filed documents, as well as press releases, letters, memos, contracts, etc.

In those rare waking moments outside of work, I also wrote album & concert reviews for an entertainment website, and received $1000 for two articles in a writing competition sponsored by Newcastle beer & Spin magazine (best live show: Black Rebel Motorcycle Club; best album of the 21st century: "How I Spent My Summer Vacation"...2 points if you know the artist).

During the leave of absence? Bought a Honda on eBay, aimed it west & discovered a passion for the road, photography, microbrews & Montana. Waited tables for pay, continued writing for fun.

Now? Living outside the box. Writing full time. That's where you come in: contact me for assistance with short stories, reviews, newsletters, press releases, biographies, annual reports, academic/scholarly or other articles, general research or reporting, photography, editing &/or proofreading.
