Service Description:
I have a Bachelor of Business Degree (Information Systems).  I have been operating in a part time capacity as an independent computer consultant and database developer for local small business since 1993 and have specialized in MS Access since 1997.  I have experience in Automation, ODBC linking and the use of Replica databases.  I create single as well as front-end/back-end systems, with security for both if required, and I use a great deal of VBA code.

User friendly is the word most used by clients when discussing my databases.  These databases are complex and comprehensive but the complexity is not noticed by the user, hence the liberal use of VBA code.  Dealing with Serial Number Tracking in an inventory system, Automatic Emails from within MS Access to nominated staff in a HR system, gleaning information from other applications such as MS Word and MS Excel to reduce data input and improve data accuracy, links to MS Outlook to gather information from email systems, opening and operating other MS Access databases through Automation when required.  I am also capable of developing databases on the fly with only a vague concept of the system required.

I used Automation (mentioned above) when I developed an MS Access database that I call the “Help File General” (HFG).  HFG loads all design details of other Access databases and produces full documentation including Form and Report design specifications and, when required, can also generate a fully operational Windows Help File System, which includes adding the vital Help Context ID’s to all Forms, Reports, Controls, and Buttons directly into the subject database, as well as all the required documents that make up the Help File system including MS Word .rtf documents generated and populated entirely from within HFG.  I use HFG as a documentation tool, which greatly improves the efficiency of generating the required documentation. Further details of what is offered by HFG can be found on my web site http://www.oalaego.com just click on the Help File General link.

My focus is on the unique outlook of the client, and I have found that providing packages that react as the client expects, meets the client’s needs and provides the greatest business benefit.  What also sets me apart from many other database developers is that I use, have used and enjoy using, the databases that I develop therefore; I see my systems from a user’s point of view.  I am confident that my skills, knowledge and experience will enable me to perform any duties that you may require, to our mutual benefit.
