My name is Jayne Bonilla and I have been writing for the past forty years. I began at the age of seven and find that writing is simply an endorphin rush for me. When asked how I got into writing, I passionately respond "I didn't get into writing, it got into me!"

I have written a series of children’s stories and children’s musicals about socially relevant issues which are conscience provoking, meaningful and entertaining. This “Inside Out” series allows our youth to get in touch with their inner personal feelings and then inspires them to share those feelings, openly, safely and with confidence.

I am especially proud of my first self-published children’s book “IF HURRICANES WERE CANDY CANES”. Being spared from the destruction of Hurricane Andrew in 1992 allowed my family to participate in the recovery process. Overcome with the experience, I was completely inspired to write this story, which I accomplished in four hours. Raising financial support through its proceeds and emotional support through its message of rebuilding and hope, “IF HURRICANES WERE CANDY CANES continues to be read by children across the United States and serve as an inspirational children’s book.

My writing has a broad voice that speaks to audiences that are young, young at heart and ageless. I write motivational stories for children that are empowering, educational, humorous and meaningful. I write insightful poetry for all ages, occasions and on demand. I create  articles and non-fiction writing on a wide spectrum of topics. I have written music and lyrics for four children’s musicals. I write on timely issues and hold the key to a treasure chest of articles and stories that address self-esteem, parenthood, relationships, authenticity, and
the importance of good character. I write tag lines, speeches and have written and produced public speaking programs for the Airline Industry, A Children's Hospital Campaign for elementary school's and a High School Peer Relationship Program.

I have a quick wit and my write hook is mightier than the swordfish! One of my many original children’s story’s is a rhyming book called “The Five Senses of Humor” which celebrates the five senses in a knee slapping, hysterical manner.

I have just completed my first fictional novel that I am preparing for submission. I have also written a memoir on surviving depression and thriving in its aftermath, which I look forward to speaking about to high school and college audiences.

My best qualities are my devotion to my family, my compassion for others, my warmth, my humor and the courage to be myself! I always transfer these qualities onto the pages I fill. Leaving the reader inspired, entertained, educated or moved in some way, makes my cup runneth over.
