Michael J. Maddalena, date of birth June 24, 1968, is a born artist.  Charcoal renderings of Star Wars characters and scenes were his initial creations in early childhood. During adolescence, Michael learned he was also a born and passionate drummer.  He maintained his loyalty to his visual art while developing his drumming talent.  Michael’s personal style began to emerge with his oil and acrylic creations on canvas and wood through high school and college.  

Michael enrolled in New York City’s School of Visual Arts Illustration, Fine Art, and Studio Design curriculum.  He subsequently obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree from Stony Brook University, graduating with honors from their Fine Art and Studio Design program. Michael achieved his mission, to master the basics and advance his technical skills.

After the completion of his academic studies, Michael’s artistic talents further evolved through his apprenticeship with renowned artist, Mihai Popa in Bridgehampton, NY. He resided and worked in the well-known round barrel house, ‘Novah’s Arc’ and adjoining studio, featured on HGTV’s Extreme Homes.  Michael ’s artistry blossomed creating massive sculptures and paintings using wood, concrete, and steel for this artistic structure and landscape.

Following his experience in the Hamptons of NY, Michael moved to New York City to further expand his artistry.  He became intrigued with the myriad of new methods and creative opportunities that the computer offered artists: Graphic Design and Illustration.  He combined his knowledge of traditional methods of fine art drawing/painting with the use of digital graphic illustration. Stunning results were to be had.  

Michael’s art brings the viewer’s eye beyond the purely visual connection between the artist and the viewer, its transcendent. Through his innate sense of design, Michael captures and illuminates his visions bringing you into the depth of his creations.  Michael’s personal style is heard in his drumming and seen in his visual art, unearthly and inspirational.
