Service Description:
Electra Libre Fowler Johnson the founding principal of Libre Ink, is a poet, writer, artist and designer. Electra has a Master’s degree in Urban Design and a Master’s degree in Architecture as well as Bachelors Degrees in Construction Management and Interior Design. Electra began working in design in 1997 when she broke her foot rock climbing in the Potrero outside of Monterey Mexico and the only flat place to wheel herself around was the Museum of Contemporary Art by Legoretta. She was transfixed by the smell of earth, sounds of lapping water and the way light and shadows moved through the museum. Her love of design has ranged in scale from shoes to neighborhoods, relying always on the kinesthetic human experience of place, space, objects. She has worked for over 13 years in design and architecture for various firms as a project manager and designer as well as for Libre Ink. Her experience ranges from industrial design to commercial, retail, hospitality, residential, restaurant design, historic preservation, fine arts as well as transit, community and urban design. Her community design work focuses on the overlapping process and systems of community based regional decentralized regenerative infrastructure including; transit, sustainable building form, local sustainable agriculture, cogeneration, solar and wind energy, natural water treatment, community, civic infrastructure, local economic infrastructure, habitat and waterway restoration as well community restoration through memory (history) and voice (poetry). Her love of dirt, texture, materiality and building stem from the creation of childhood forts, fairy villages, exploration of post industrial sites and a deep fascination with moss.
