I am an experienced, award-winning writer who developed a love of writing at a young age. It wasn’t until later that I fostered an appreciation for editing and the satisfaction that comes with bettering the written word of another.
 For the past 10 years, I have worked as a journalist at various newspapers throughout Ohio. I graduated from the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University, and I am near completion of my Master’s degree in reporting and editing from Kent State University.
 During my time as a news reporter, I've received numerous awards from the Ohio Associated Press, including best news writer, best investigative reporter and best enterprise reporting. I also was awarded first place in investigative reporting by the Ohio Society of Professional Journalists and received an honorable mention for the Casey Medal by the Casey Journalism Center on Children and Families in College Park, Maryland. Last month, the Ohio AP awarded me an honorable mention for best blogger.
 I was selected to study at the Hechinger Institute on Education and the Media in New York City. I also have studied writing and editing at the Danish School of Journalism in Aarhus, Denmark and Hogeschool van Utrecht in The Netherlands.
 I am a published poet.
 A wife and mother, I am working on my first series of children's books.
