An experienced writer and copyeditor, I recently received a Certificate of Completion for a course in "Chicago-style" proofreading. With many years of experience designing and developing classroom training and e-learning in corporate environments, I transitioned to freelancing as a writer, copyeditor, and proofreader.

As a freelancer, I've successfully worked with foreign as well as U.S. clients. I know my communication skills and willingness to ask for clarification have helped.

In addition to a BFA, I received an Associate Degree in Graphics and Multimedia through Capella University (online) and have the skills and experience to write and format Web content, as well as MS Word and Adobe Acrobat documents, Power Point Presentations, etc.

I also enjoy document design and formatting. Last year I redesigned all of a California restaurant chain's training manuals and recipe books, and contributed some light copyediting in the process of transferring content into the new design.

Most recently, I've been working with a client in the Czech Republic, writing new copy, editing existing copy, and transcribing instructional videos as the basis for a printed training manual, which he has said he'd like me to develop, drawing on my extensive experience as a training designer/developer.

As a freelancer, I strive to keep my prices reasonable, offer a variety of services, and provide excellent customer service in my efforts to build and maintain a loyal customer base.

Prices vary depending on the scope and nature of the project. A light edit of a sales letter or Web copy costs less than editing a 500-page manuscript and formatting it for submission to your publisher. And most work includes a reasonable number of additional edits or reworks at no additional charge.

I require a non-refundable, upfront payment to begin work, particularly with new clients. The amount varies, depending on the total project fee, but is usually 20%-50%. Terms are almost always negotiable and will be specified in an agreement when the project is awarded.
