I have worked in live events, on and off, since the age of 14 - starting out in a holiday job in a rock and roll staging company - sat there in a warehouse with a bunch of seventies-leftover-roadies: a different world then and now.

I then had a career that helped me travel with/without work, develop business and personal skills, make a haphazard income and meet some really wonderful people.

In that time we have gone from real slides to electronic slides, valve projection to digital surfaces, lamps to LEDs, and big budgets to buggered budgets.
Today I freelance for agencies - helping them pull together and realise corporate event expectations - in events, exhibitions, and conferences - anything really where a message is connected to a live audience via a cable of some sort.

The future: well that looks bleak in the business world, and the real world: if we are to continue to do what we do we need to adapt our approach - design, budget and expectations.

I call myself a 'Live Project Developer' because that's what I do - I may be, at any one time, a production manager, a producer, an account director, or a 3d set designer - but to be effective now you have got to have a bit of each - and so I specialise in not specialising too often.
