Service Description:
Dictionaries give two definitions of a "professional student"---a student studying for a degree in certain professions, and a student who stays in school for many years, avoiding entrance to a career. I am a third type of "professional student": one who is always learning.
I earned a B.A. in Anthropology with a minor in Education. Years later, after having raised four children to become stable and productive adults, I earned an M.S. in Counseling and Human Resource Development.
In addition to these courses, I have studied medical transcription, proofreading and editing, and nutrition.
Over the course of my life I have had the privilege of living in the jungles of Mexico (building a house out of sugar cane poles and leaves, using only a machete for a tool), teaching in an alternative school (teaching music in grades K-12, all courses for grades 7-12 in a one-room-schoolhouse-type setting, setting up and overseeing their library), teaching college (undergrad, and a few grad courses), being a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (working in a community mental health center for a number of years), teaching in Head Start, and being a pastor's wife.
I have many years of experience in different forms of writing and proofreading, obtained through academic, professional, and life experiences, in the following areas:
---Proofreading and editing (Proofreading: typos and spelling; Proofreading Plus: Proofreading plus grammar; Copy Editing: Proofreading Plus as well as sentence-level clarity, awkwardness, flow, sentence and paragraph revisions)
---Professional writing (Business, Web content)
---Academic writing (High school through graduate level compositions, research papers; expertise in Chicago and MLA styles, but able to adapt to other styles if needed)
---Creative writing (Short stories, children's stories, novel, essays)
---PowerPoint presentations (with or without voice)
