The element of surprise is the key element to successfully throwing a surprise birthday party. Whether the guest of honor is your spouse, significant other, child, parent, other relative, or friend, the party will be better appreciated if they have a good sense of humor and will not mind being caught off guard.
In my last article, I gave you an unorthodox comparison of trimming your mailbox with trimming your waistline. This go round, I'll introduce to you a more conventional way of downsizing your Microsoft Outlook mailbox. Tired of manually saving your email attachments? Well, thanks to MAPILab's Attachments Processor for Outlook, your troubles could be over. [OutlookPower Magazine, February 2008]

This monthly newsletter contains four sections: a dog health tip, a featured product, a funny dog story, and a touching rescue dog story. The newsletter is designed to encourage my client's mailing list to stay loyal, keep reading and, of course, make purchases. I also did the design and layout for this newsletter.

Category: Writing / Editing / Translation
Description: I am a detail-oriented person with a creative streak and a lot of experience in writing of all sorts, both technical and non-technical.  I did the first two years of my Bachelor's degree at a liberal arts school (University of Puget Sound) where I made the most of all of my language and writing classes before I transferred and started my engineering degree.

I spent three months writing articles for Concrete Construction Magazine during the summer before I graduated with my Bachelor's degree.  That was a lot of fun and my article on concrete fencing was one of their most requested reprints!

I worked as a writing consultant for the College of Engineering and Mines at the University of Arizona while getting my Master's degree in Structural Engineering.  As such, I worked with writers of several different nationalities as well as with native English speakers to help them with any type of writing they were struggling with.  One thing I am especially good at is translating technical journal-speak into something that is readable by a person of average intelligence outside the particular field.

After grad school, I worked for a (very) small structural engineering firm in New York City that specialized in renovation, restoration, and rehabilitation.  As it was such a small firm, everyone there had to be proficient in all duties, including writing proposals and reports.

After I moved back to Arizona and before I got married, I worked in a slightly larger consulting engineering office. Again, one of my responsibilities was writing proposals.  Approximately 90% of the proposals I wrote either got my company the project or at least got us short-listed.

In the nooks and crannies when I haven't been going to school or working, I have done 20 years of ballet, trained as a classical soprano, and travelled extensively.  I also really, really, really (my husband would add at least five more reallys) like to read.

Now I work for my local City government and really miss the opportunity to write and be creative on a daily basis.  I joined iFreelance not only to make some extra money, but to be able to do something I love - helping other people with words.

You wouldn't be exaggerating much if you said that I am passionate about editing.  Making sure that what the writer is attempting to say really comes through to the intended audience is very satisfying.  I also get a lot of pleasure from writing.  I would love to help you with just about any type of writing, editing, or proofreading project you may have.

I am much more visual and articulate in the vernacular than most engineers - definitely don't be thrown off by my background.  I like to think of myself as a translator, someone who can take complex subjects and make them readily understandable for a diverse audience.

Thank you for reading this far.  I look forward to working with you.

Passionate Writer Meets Deadlines - Rated 10.0 by Every Customer

Description: My freelance website is:  http://HawleyWords.com/  I developed and wrote all content for this site.

I specialize in writing sales and marketing materials, and I come to you with 20 years of success from the front lines of business warfare.  I know there are many freelancers who have the experience to entice you to hire them.  What I bring to the table—besides my strong professional experience—is humility, an honest desire to assist you in your success, an analytical mind, intelligence and skill, and an ease in working with me.  Nearly everything I write is Search Engine Optimized (SEO), so that if it is placed on the internet, search engines will easily find it.  I have never had a customer who regretted they had hired me to help them.

I've written oodles of sales and marketing documents, presentations, press releases, HR documents, and restructuring and business plans during my professional careers summarized below.

I had a long career working for the government, doing a good deal of research, and writing proposals, grants, RFPs, and implementation plans.  I followed that experience with a career in Clinical Social Work, where I gained an intimate perspective of humanity and the value of communication.  Then I enjoyed a successful career directing sales in the software, telecommunications, and technology manufacturing industries, where I refined my sales and marketing skills, and learned how to inspire an audience to listen.  I have given speeches in front of hundreds of listeners on sales, marketing, and technology.

A few other tidbits about my professional experience:
I am a decorated veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
I have received many awards for my professional contributions to Oracle Corporation, Verizon Wireless, and other entities.
I have been interviewed on Sales Talk Radio twice.
I have been interviewed at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES).
