Writing has been my bread and butter and my soul food for as long as I can remember. Early on in my career I gravitated toward the writing aspects of my work; as a political campaign manager to the speeches, newsletters and policy documents. From politics I changed path to small business entrepreneurial pursuits and again, it was the business plan, the written proposal and the advertising that proved to be my strength.

The Experience:

My life journey has taken me from my home town in Toronto to my current home in New Zealand and I have made many, many stops along the way. It has been my privilege to come to know a variety of cultures and places intimately. These experiences are so rich in my memory and my heart; they are particular favourites for me to write about or to utilise for places in which to set my scenes.

The Passion:

I have never baulked at a challenge and I am open to new technologies and ideas. In the early days of digital photography (1990's weren't really that long ago!), Southern Skies magazine had this to say about me, "... as forward thinking business people recognise the advantages of the new medium. In Taupo, Helga Sonier of Frantic Digital Adventure Evidence, mounts a Kodak under the wing of the Taupo Tandem Skydive Plane to capture..."

And by the way, I did jump out of the aeroplane for the accompanying photo in the article.

As staff writer for a magazine I now freelance with, I wrote (7) introductory installments of a featurette which spotlights men and women whose work puts them in contact with or serves families/children locally and globally. My name is Anne Violette.  I am a freelance writer in Delray Beach, Florida.  My style is difficult to characterize.  To some, it may seem as though we are reading this together.  To others, it may be amusing.  To those who fall in neither category, it may be a general level of curiosity that has taken us this far into the initial presentation.  Regardless of which one of those people you may be, you need me.  And I need you.  

I graduated college at the delicate age of 19 with a degree in Marketing.  While I could try to impress you with my 4.0 GPA in English and English composition, or my 5 ½ years working at a prestigious advertising agency as an account executive, I do not see those to be my highest achievements.  What I am most proud of is that, at age 25, I quit.  I quit letting someone else tell me how much money I could make.  I quit working 9 -5.  I quit doing things I didn’t enjoy.  That was 10 years ago.  It was the best decision I have ever made.

As a freelance writer and photographer I have been able to live my life with passion.  Sure, it may be the “All-American Dream”, but not that many people actually have the tenacity to just do it.  I have traveled, lived and learned.  I have started and succeeded with 3 businesses.  I have climbed the ladder of success and I have fallen off the roof.  But the one greatest lesson that I have learned, is to always listen to that impelling instinct that tells us if we’re on the right path.
