Corel Painter X.
Line art created using Corel Painter X and Illustrator CS3. Perfect for use in coloring books. The piece can become as simple or as complicated as the Client wishes. This is only a sample.
Corel Painter X. pen & ink Illustration The Client asked me to create black and white, somewhat simple and realistic illustrations of various characters to go with the poems in his book. Title of the poem is "Why" and depicts a man looking to the sky, looking for answers. The book title is "Betrayal, Sorrow and Tomorrow" and contains poetry on the subject of Divorce and its' effects on a family.
Corel Painter X. Wacom Tablet Created from a small, low-quality photograph. If you would like a beautiful portrait created from any picture, please provide me with the best quality photo possible so that the person's identifiable features stand out. The more visible the detail, the more I can do with the painting. Please specify what size painting you would like to receive, or any other details you would like added into the piece.
Created in Photoshop with a Wacom tablet. When the artist by way of magic and misfortune encounters his own creations it could be the end,.... or maybe the beginning to a very action-packed story.

Description: I have had 25 years experience in art, illustration and design, working successfully with many authors, publishers, architects, property developers, marketing agencies and others.

I mainly illustrate in freehand using Pantone ink, pencil, oil and watercolor. I use striking colors conveying that human quality that children and adults alike enjoy, stirring their imaginations.

I do believe that my ability to perceive the essence of what is required, and to translate that into illustration and art, which exactly communicates the clients’ ideas into a visual form is an advantage in the service I deliver.

Author, Marina Cohen (www.marinacohen.com) says; " I have worked with Mr. Howarth, via my publisher, over the past year for the covers of my two novels, I found him not only to be extremely talented and professional, but also extremely patient- working with me through several sketches before finalizing the cover art. I often tell students in my presentations that Mr. Howarth’s depictions of the characters and plot elements are far better than my own descriptions. I highly recommend him as an illustrator."

In response to some illustrations I recently did, the author (Peggy Guillory) said;  It has been a great pleasure working with you. I appreciate your time, quick response, and dedication to getting my illustrations done promptly, accurately, and professionally. Now I know why all of the references that you e-mailed me were so excited about your work.”

In viewing my portfolio one can see that I am versatile and work in different genres of art and illustration. I also work fast without losing quality, always making sure that the required deadlines are met. I am also easy to work with and understand that the customer wants his illustrations to be “just right”.

Being a graduate with a degree in architecture and having worked in the field of construction, I feel that I have a good grasp of how a building should look when rendered and best exhibit its aesthetics and practicalities. Also as a practicing artist I prefer freehand illustration as I feel they exude life and have an additional charm about them which adds to their desirability. The value of the final product to the client is understood by them and demonstrated by the fact that they use me consistently for their ongoing building development projects.

About Gavin:

Gavin eats, sleeps and breathes Art.  He has always been very passionate and active in both Art and Design from a very early age.  He is a creative thinker and his talents and interests lie in a variety of different fields.  He can be labelled as an Illustrator, Artist, Graphic Designer and Architectural Designer.

After studying 'Art and Craft' and Graphic Design at 'A' Level, along with a variety of other subjects, he took his 'Art Foundation' at college.  Gavin then went on to study Architecture at The University of Brighton (England).  Here, he graduated with a 'Bachelor of Arts with Honours Degree' (BA Hons) and his 'Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) - part one.

Architecture brought all of Gavin's talents together and helped fine tune his creative mind as an Artist and a Designer.  It taught him a completely new way to view the physical and cultural world around him.  It also helped expand his creative thinking in terms of understanding and designing spacial environments.  This brought a new dimension to his artwork and introduced him to new graphic and drawing techniques using both hand and computer.

Gavin has always worked as a freelance Graphic Designer and Commission Artist in his spare time and has aquired a mixed array of clientel.  He can work in a large variety of different media and likes to combine different techniques to achieve his desired goal.  As you will no doubt be able to see from Gavin's portfolio, he is very universal in his style and can adapt to suit any brief, in both Art and Graphic Design, innovatively to assure client satisfaction.

Searching for adventure and new experiences, Gavin loves to travel.  He has recently completed a one year journey circling the Globe with a 'round the world ticket'.  Here, he picked up inspiration from all the countries in which he worked and visited.  He hopes to portray this depth and rich texture in his work.

Gavin now lives happily in the United States with his beautiful wife Grae, his greatest inspiration.
