Description: After 20 years as a full-time marketing professional, I took a leap of faith and launched Mustard Seed Marketing. Mustard Seed Marketing isn't an ad agency. It's a freelance marketing service employing one person -- me!

Here's a little about my qualifications. After graduating from college with a journalism degree, I "fell into" a PR job following an internship with a large bank. I was promoted from PR Assistant to Advertising and PR Director. After 5 years at the bank, I went to work as PR Director for a national charity. Working for the charity, I learned a lot about self-promotion and getting things done on a shoe-string budget. From there, I became Marketing Director for a community-chartered credit union with $120 million in assets. Nearly 13 years later, when I left the credit union, we had grown to $300 million in assets. In each position, I handled all copywriting, including newsletters, brochures, web content, annual reports, ads and sales letters.

Although I provide all types of freelance marketing services, my goal is to focus more on writing. That's why I'm posting in this category. Writing has been my passion since I could hold a pencil in my hand. (Yes, I'm older than word processors.)

I've been told I have a knack for combining business sense with a friendly, conversational and easy-to-read writing style. I'm also skilled at taking difficult concepts and explaining them in an easy-to-understand way.

While I do work for companies of all sizes, the main focus of Mustard Seed Marketing is small businesses. I also have an advice website -- http://www.marketing-small-business.net -- that provides content to assist small business owners. Browsing that site will give you an idea of my level of writing and marketing expertise.

I look forward to the opportunity to work on your next writing project. When you hire Mustard Seed Marketing, you'll benefit from my natural writing ability combined with many years of real-life marketing and business experience.
Skills: marketing, copywriting and SEO content, media and public relations, planning and project management, business writing, creative writing, photography and Photoshop, corporate communications, employee communications, research
Portfolio:
I wrote this credit union history for a 40th Anniversary Newspaper Tab.
This was one in a series of Home Equity ads. I used the words "Renovate," "Educate," "Consolidate" and "Possibly Cut Your Bill on Tax Date" to promote the many uses of a home equity. (Note: I can't claim credit for the graphic design of this ad.)
This radio spot was one in a series of a little girl named Abby calling the credit union for a loan. It was written with a touch of humor, which worked well, due to the skill of the child talent.
This ad was part of a campaign promoting a new free checking account. I wrote the copy, edited and worked with a graphic designer.
This is the cover and part of a feature article I wrote for the annual report of the Easter Seal Society I worked for. I won a national Easter Seal award for this annual report. I also took the photos. (It's a bit grainy here, due to file size limitations.)

Be the Business That Everybody Wants!
Category: Writing / Editing / Translation
Description: How do you make people look at you?  What makes them feel compelled to buy your product, or to use your services?  Effective communication.  Direct presentation.  An urgency to take action.  All of these answers are correct.

Perhaps you came across my profile by accident.  But you came to the right place.  We are about to embark on a journey together and build your business.  It would only be polite for me to welcome you.  I will introduce myself to you first, and then it will be your turn to reciprocate.

My name is Anne Violette.  I am a freelance writer in Delray Beach, Florida.  My style is difficult to characterize.  To some, it may seem as though we are reading this together.  To others, it may be amusing.  To those who fall in neither category, it may be a general level of curiosity that has taken us this far into the initial presentation.  Regardless of which one of those people you may be, you need me.  And I need you.

I graduated college at the delicate age of 19 with a degree in Marketing.  While I could try to impress you with my 4.0 GPA in English and English composition, or my 5 ½ years working at a prestigious advertising agency as an account executive, I do not see those to be my highest achievements.  What I am most proud of is that, at age 25, I quit.  I quit letting someone else tell me how much money I could make.  I quit working 9 -5.  I quit doing things I didn’t enjoy.  That was 9 years ago.  It was the best decision I have ever made.

As a freelance writer and photographer I have been able to live my life with passion.  Sure, it may be the “All-American Dream”, but not that many people actually have the tenacity to just do it.  I have traveled, lived and learned.  I have started and succeeded with 3 businesses.  I have climbed the ladder of success and I have fallen off the roof.  But the one greatest lesson that I have learned, is to always listen to that impelling instinct that tells us if we’re on the right path.

Now I’m here to help you, through eloquent dialogue and viscid wording.  So what is it you need?  A catalog written? Website content?  Imaginative copy skills?  Do you have a killer idea for a book that you need someone creative to fulfill?  Or a mundane-looking sales piece that needs to be jazzed up?  You have found your writer already.  Now the ball is in your court to put me to work for you.
