Description: I bring a desirable resume to the table in the area of concept generation, pure design, & research and development. Two published patents and (8) other applications.

Expert in any design software and can do just about anything, including some freeform, and I WILL NOT grade myself with a 10 in any of them. I'm not a UG, Pro E, CadKey, Catia, SolidWorks, or AutoCAD Master... (Very close but not yet!) If I was, I'd be in a jacket and tie teaching the rest of us. I am, however, highly proficient in solid modeling in general.

Many references to the Director and VP Levels. Lead Design and/or Development Engineer in every position held in a 12 year career. Quick concept generation

(1.5) Year of development of the (Industrial Sealing Devices) Micro-Tec, Equalizer, and Isoguard (Developed, Designed / Designed / Built Test Equipment, and Sent to Production). The worst sealing applications in the industry.

(2) Years of developmental heavy equipment and locomotive bearing, housing, and carrier structure...designing low drag PTFE Mechanical Seals and Bearing Isolators achieving one patent (USPTO #6,620,361). Many freight lines were able to reduce their required locomotive engines by one engine per set ($1-$2 million per train).

(1) Year as Lead Design Engineer designing commercial aircraft seats. Designed arm for next generation regional jet (737s etc.) from seat structure to final, finished, manufacturable assembly (Please see my Portfolio). Designed everything you see and was awarded patent. (USPTO # 6,776,45).

(2) Years at Lead Development Engineer of Leer and Cessna Ultra Luxury Jet Seats.(As Lead, I designed the mechanical portion of Citation’s next generation seat offsite in my own office traveling twice a month to Miami). 2500-3000 components (including electro-mechanical) from the ground up starting with a hand sketch from the director of engineering.

(4) Years of lead design in developmental aircraft turbine engine design, [737s, 747s, and the brand new Airbus A380 (Largest Commercial Aircraft on the Planet] attaching any component needed external to the engine. Collaborative Design on A380 with GE.

(2) Years of Solo Modeling for my Own Patents for Two Designs

I find that the route to success isn’t always the path walked by most. Letting go of the traditional engineering sometimes opens something up. I  ALWAYS think way outside of the box during initial development, then reel myself in toward reality and let the two thought processes meet for cost effectiveness in development, design, and delivery through the Analysis Phases. Quick on my feet with preliminary engineering calculations and equally quick response to design tweaks. When the unavoidable occurs, rapid collaboration with design owner to bring it home. I can conceptualize, budget, develop, analyze, and provide test alternatives all out of one office and I’m very willing to share many references.

We specialize in products for harsh environments with special emphasis on law enforcement and military applications. However, we work in all fields, and with our background in industrial product development, retail product development, robotics, automated systems, safety equipment, EOD/UXO, and safety assurety systems, we have a strong base in helping you to develop the next generation of products and technologies that are truly useful in your particular field.

It is especially important to us to create a knowledgable relationship with our clients, to fully understand your needs and requirements at the onset of a project. The two main reasons outsourced product development efforts fail is lack of communication and failure of expectations. We pride ourselves on providing our clients a project experience that is refreshing, rewarding and enjoyable.

Dan Kenney, Founder of Kenney Technologies has been fortunate to be able to work on some of the World's most challenging technical projects in his career as a product development specialist. These projects include automated assembly robots for the Airbus A-380, several robotics projects for Israeli Air Industries, the mobID biometric handheld computer, ceramic/aluminum armor for personnel protection, advanced cargo security devices, as well as a multitude of large-scale walking and wheeled mobile robotic systems. Dan is a degreed mechanical engineer with experience that ties over into electrical engineering, computer engineering, RF engineering, information technology, and manufacturing.

Dan has also implemented overseas and domestic manufacturing plans for a variety of industries and maintains strong ties to both foreign and domestic manufacturing sources. We would like to help you find the balance between the reliability and quality of domestically sourced components and the low cost of foreign sourced material. We understand what soft costs do to your bottom line and have proven formulas to help your product be successful in today's competitive marketplace.

Past Performance Value: We have developed or assisted in the development of products that have a total market capitalization of over 70 Million USD since the company was founded.
Skills: SolidWorks, Product Development, Prototype Development, Mechanism Design, Industrial Design, Injection Mold Component Design, Cast Metal Component Design, Technical Illustration
Portfolio:
Kenney Technologies developed the Smartcuff product line from a pencil sketch emailed from soldiers stationed in Iraq. These soldiers had identified a need to attach critical electronic data to detainees during transport and contacted Kenney Technologies' founder, Dan Kenney, who developed, fielded and markets the product to law enforcement, corrections military clients under the Smartcuff moniker.
Kenney Technologies designed this 16" x 20" semi-automatic heat press as part of a new product line for a leading company in the specialty printing equipment industry. The press incorporated several radical new improvements over existing machines, including edge-optimized heating elements, low profile handle swing, cast aluminum structure, and ane eye pleasing industrial design that won several industry awards for best new product.
The client approached Kenney Technologies to assist them in optimizing this soldier-designed multi-rail sight mount for the .50 caliber machine gun. After redesigning the mount to take advantage of modern manufacturing techniques, and creating the modular rail design, Kenney Technologies assisted the client in creating relationships with local manufacturing, assembly and warehousing companies to assist them in their large scale government sales opportunities.
Kenney Technologies assisted this client in the development and prototyping of the CT-100 Automated Metallic Cable Tester. Starting with a 3D conceptual model, Kenney Technologies developed the first renderings of the unit, used for pre-sales and technical documentation. Based on this design, the final model was released to prototype. Using vendors recommended by Kenney Technologies, an inexpensive soft-tooled prototype was manufactured and assembled within weeks.
Developed as part of a product line, Kenney Technologies designed, prototyped and assisted in the production of this advanced heat press for the garment printing industry. Utilizing several advanced improvements of existing designs, this press rapidly gained favor in the industry and won several awards for best new product.
