Description: After 20 years as a full-time marketing professional, I took a leap of faith and launched Mustard Seed Marketing LLC. Mustard Seed Marketing isn't an ad agency. It's a freelance marketing service employing one person -- me!

I was previously V.P. of Sales and Marketing for a $300 million credit union. I joined the credit union in 1994, when it was a $129 million institution. As a one-person department at that time, I handled all aspects of marketing, including research, product development, planning, budgeting, media buys, ad campaigns, writing, desktop publishing and public relations.

In 1997, the credit union added the Marquis MCIF system and began moving to a sales platform. I was responsible for setting up and using the MCIF system. From that point, I gained knowledge in segmentation and target marketing. Over time, as the credit union grew, so did the marketing department. In my final two years at the credit union, I was responsible for marketing as well as the sales team in the branches. Due to some changing family needs, I found myself in a situation of needing greater flexibility and availability for my loved ones. That was the driving force behind my decision to start Mustard Seed Marketing.

Now, on a freelance basis, I offer my marketing knowledge and skills to your company. In addition to 13 years at the credit union, I spent three years as Director of PR for a local Easter Seal Society and nearly five years as Director of PR for a large bank. My degree is actually in communications with an emphasis in journalism, which explains my strengths in communicating, interviewing and writing. I do a great deal of copywriting for my clients.

While I do marketing work for companies of all sizes, the main focus of Mustard Seed Marketing is small businesses. This is a simple, tri-fold newsletter created for Heritage Federal Credit Union. I produced this monthly newsletter for 13 years. In this issue, I wrote all copy (except the article on branch hours). This sample is a bit hard to read, as I reduced the size to meet file size limitations.
This is the cover and part of a feature article I wrote for the Soutwestern Indiana Easter Seal Society annual report. I received a national award from the Easter Seal Society for this annual report. I also took the photos. (It's a bit grainy here, due to file size limitations.)
This article focuses on looking at loyalty, not just sales, to identify your best customers.
This ad was part of a campaign promoting a new free checking account and bill pay. We realized a 50% net increase in new checking accounts during this campaign, with nearly 80% of those being new members. The campaign included many aspects beyond this ad. The promotion plan below gives you an overview of the total campaign.
This was an article I wrote for a 40th Anniversary Newspaper insert. The tabloid highlighted the credit union's history, community service and products and was completely supported by vendor advertising.

This is one in a series of Point of Purchase product posters part of a long-term campaign implemented by a natural gas utility. The campaign also includes a 12-page, full color brochure with detailed narrative about a variety of natural gas appliances which will be displayed in racks beneath the posters and print ads for use in newspapers and magazines.

The campaign also includes a 12-page, full color brochure with detailed narrative about a variety of natural gas appliances which will be displayed in racks beneath the posters and print ads for use in newspapers and magazines.
For over 8 years, I have designed a variety of promotions for a Florida-based natural gas utility. This has included everything from demographically-targeted campaigns, product-specific promotions, and general image style advertising like this particular piece. "The Energy of Choice" campaign has been used in a wide spectrum of publications such as relocation guides and magazines. The key is to deliver a style and message reflective of the targeted audience.
I created a virtual home which is presented both online as an interactive tour and as a video presentation. I combined virtual reality technology, traditional live action video, audio voice over for narrative, interactive features, and developed a significant promotional campaign for launch of product.
This is one in a series of Direct Mail postcards distributed to targeted current customers to encourage the addition of specific appliances or services to their home. The post cards are two-sided, self-mailers and were created to be larger than standard business envelopes to be readily seen by the customer in their mail box.
