Description: Hello! I own a Denver based music company that needs help redesigning a purely mechanical device for guitarists (prototype in existence) which is to be manufactured in the United States or China and is to be marketed in the United States. The goals for the redesign are to vastly improve its functionality and aesthetic quality and to reduce manufacturing costs.

As aesthetics are very important in musical instrument/accessories sales, experience with aesthetically driven design is valued. Also, an interest in rock music and its surrounding culture is of value (i.e. given the culture of the market, the device perform far better if it looks more like a motorcycle than like a stethoscope). Leo Fender was a master of design, in this respect. His products were functional, cheap to produce with the materials available at the time, and iconically original in aesthetics. We hope to capture this spirit with the device.

Compensation will be based on many factors (many to decided by the candidate in agreement with our project manager) and is best discussed on a case by case basis with each candidate.

Description: I am thinking in an engine that would be used with wind and a very light balloon that could move pretty much the top part of a sphere.
Inside the sphere is the engine. You will have one pair of horizontal cranks, and two pairs of vertical cranks.
In each pair of cranks one can move only clockwise and the other only anticlockwise.
It must be very visible that whenever the top of the sphere as a movement more close to clockwise in what regards a crank, it will help, in a very logical and ordered fashion, the other 4 cranks in what seems to be more clock or anticlockwise, for that movement cranks.
After all, the engine will be lifting a pair of weights, two spheres, up to whatever altitude we choose.
The engine must be well thought by a mechanical engineer to maximize the movement of the hardwired light balloon. Solidworks seems the tool of choice,
but it is up to you.

Description: Want to design a cage to protect the outside condensing unit of a central AC system from vendaliism. Imagine the condensing unit as a retangular of 30" square in the base on 4 sides and about 32 inches tall. The condensing unit would normally sit on a concrete pad. The protection AC cage would enclose the condensing unit on all 4 sides and the top, thus protecting the condensing unit from vandalism. What is the big deal about this dumb cage?
1. The cage has to secure to the concrete pad so no one can knock, move or lift it up. Want the cage secured to the concrete pad.
2. The cage should be able to withstand deliberate and determined vandalism, crow bar and thugs. Want an industructible cage.
3. The cage should be easy, light and cheap to transport accross long distance. Want light weight and flat panel. At the job site, the worker can just snap the pieces together into a strong cage. Want simple and irreversible interlocking mechanism.
4. Want to be able to slap the pieces togehter without tool? or with minimal tool?
I need your expertise and ideas. Would pay for your design and ideas.

Description: I own a product design company in Georgia.  I also use ifreelance (where i found you) to find new clients and for them to find us.  Recently, I have taken on a lot of work and started a second company to sell some neat products.  I need to focus on finishing some client projects but want to continue to develop products for my second company.  Additionally, I wouldn't mind having someone to send extra work to.

One of the next projects I'd like to pursue is what some call a "tactical pen".  I don't really like this name but it is how many refer to it.  The pen will use a standard COTS pen refill available at your local office supply store.  

I try to keep my designs very unique, high quality and with lots of innovative features.  I do not have much in the way of a design for this pen yet.  I will provide you a model of the refill, some guidelines, and leave the rest up to you with input from me.  I am looking for someone very creative who can design an innovative, classy, high-quality product.  

Can you do this in SolidWorks?  If not, what CAD package will you use?

Description: Hi,

I'm looking for a polishing solution for automotive fuel injectors.  Currently my polishing process is manual.  I use a 6" bench grinder to with a wire wheel for the first stage paint removal and a sewn cotton buffing wheel to polish after the paint is removed.  My business is to rebuild fuel injectors both mechanically and physically.  I'm desperately looking to automate the process to allow for expansion.  I process roughly 25,000-40,000 pieces a year and hope to double that by next year.  

The pieces are small.  They are all the same for a certain style and I can do 1000-5000 of the same style at a time.  I would like to be able to adapt to different styles with changes of either programming or retooling/reconfiguration but understand it may be laborous.  

I've already invested in vibratory finishing and because there is plastic on the piece it was unsuccessful at properly reconditioning the physical appearance without damaging the plastic connector portion.  I'm going to attach a link to a picture of the most common sample of part that I do.

Is this possible for you to design, cost estimate involved?  

I'm just brainstorming now but my ideas were.. dump a bucket into a shaker that orients the injectors in a groove in the same position.  Then they can go into a conveyor system of some sort into the rest of the system.

Any input would be appreciated even if you can't take on a project such as this and if you can you can win the bid!
