Fantasy / Landscape painting, scene from Narnia - Landscape Painting Freelance Job

Hi,
I'm not really familiar with the difference between all these styles of painting and drawing, but this is what I'm after;

Basically, in the future I would like to have a mural on one wall of my house (future house as now I'm renting) that is a scene from the Narnia books - and movie. I already have this scene in my head. What I am wanting for now however, as I don't have the space or the money for the mural at present, is a smaller version of what I want so that at least I have it down and can admire it for the time being. So, I'm not sure if this would be best painted, sketched, done with some media type stuff, or whatever.

If you are not familiar with Narnia I can get you some links to some images, and I will probably do that anyway so you know what sort I like (realistic, not cartoony), but the idea of my scene is this -

On the left hand side of the picture is the lampost in the snow, with Mr Tumnus (a half man, half goat creature) carrying his parcels and his umbrella, then the rest of the picture going to the right is a basic Narnia landscape (sparse forest) slowly turning from snow to melting snow to a summer day, with Aslan (lion) somewhere in the distance (maybe on a clifftop or something?) at the right of the picture.

I'm not sure of size but I'm thinking it probably needs to be longer than it is high, to fit all that detail in as you look along it. Still only a small picture though, maybe 10-12" high? (A couple of bidders have suggested that if it is 12" high, probably best to be about 28" long, so go with that kind of size in your bid, unless you want to suggest otherwise).

Please mention in your bid how you would go about it (eg, do you show me a rough draft via email first and does your bid include changes), what size would you recommend, what type of painting do you do, how long do you think it will take you (although time is not an issue)?

Sorry about all the questions, but I'm really relying on your expertise in this field to give me an idea about what YOU think is the best way to go about it. Also let me know your payment requirements (any upfront?) and if you can accept payment via paypal (which I would prefer).

P.S.
The reason for the length of bidding time is because I am going on holiday in a few weeks and won't have much time to consider the bids while I am away, so I have made the listing end once I am back (so I won't be finishing it early). Completion time for the project, however, does not matter to me. If you would charge less to take many months to do it by fitting it in between other jobs, then by all means let me know.

My choice of provider is going to be based on three things; 1) Your portfolio, or any other similar work you can show me. Everyone has their own style of course but the work that makes me feel drawn into the landscape will work in your favor. 2) Price - of course money is not everything, but I am on a limited budget so bids in the 4 figure marks are definitely out of my league. 3) Knowledge and love of Narnia - I would be more inclined toward those who are familiar with Narnia, and especially those who have read the books, just because I think you would have a better 'feel' for it.
