Description: I'm looking for collaborators on a large monster prop that will end up in haunted houses (and possibly films and theme parks, eventually). My company has built and sold one prop already and we'd like to expand our product line by swapping out the head and hands with variants. This is akin to the head swap technique in video games (Figure 1). Those artists selected will sculpt the variant parts, become part owners of the new product, and will get royalties on every product sold.

We've completed a 6 foot tall (hunched in Figure 2) functional animatronic figure, along with a separate head, hands, and feet. The next variant can be YOUR design and you will be paid based on how well your design sells. There's no income limit for you - it could earn you money for the rest of your life (and I'll be working hard to ship these). Additionally, we will provide a list of collaborators on our website along with what pieces you've done. This will give you recognition and drive some business to you, as well. I'll also add that this prop is using a highly functional new electronic system designed in-house to advance the technology of haunt animatronics. It is sure to make waves - haunt owners and collaborators already on board are very excited to see this play out.

The prop arms will be sculpted to mid-forearm where the diameter (length across that part of the arm) should be around 7 inches. length from fingertip (or tentacletip - design whatever you want) to mid-forearm should be around 18 inches. The head should be about 20 inches in diameter. We'll work out the details together before any work begins.

The large prop will look best if it blends in well with the body we've already finished. Figure 2 will give you a sense of scale and Figure 3 is a closeup of the texture in the neck area. The two sculptors that worked on it intentionally made it abstract enough to lead into different types of characters (it could be swamp monster vines, lava monster scales, veins and scars of a battle-hardened orc, and so on).

What I'm asking from you, if you're interested, is to send me a link to a portfolio or some attached images of work you've done. You may also include a few sketches (rough & conceptual is fine) of what you intend to sculpt for us - I'll need to see that before giving the go ahead, anyway. A handful of entries will be selected to sculpt their proposed piece(s). I can't ask EVERY applicant to go ahead because there's a lot of work involved with getting your piece into our inventory and you into our payment system. Once the piece is received by us - and if it's at the same quality as the other pieces in your portfolio - we'll mold it and send a casting back to you to keep.

You can sculpt just the head for the large prop, or 2 different left hands, as many pieces as you want ...each component has an associated royalty fee that will be paid to you when that variant sells. The royalty paid to you on each sale will be a percentage of the selling price, but at the moment it looks like the royalties will be somewhere in this area:

head: $150
hands: $80

It will take me a few years to get there, but my target sales level is 20 of these props per year. So sculpt a head and arms and if a quarter of the props sold use your design, you'll get $1100.00 every year. I've drafted documentation and will have a face to face meeting with the group of collaborators already working on this. After I get numbers they're happy with I'll run it through my lawyer and accountant and it'll all be official.

This is a great opportunity for establishing a passive income for yourself, gaining some worthwhile publicity, and adding something topnotch to your portfolio.
