Description: NOTE:  This job description was originally posted two months ago.  The client that we are working with on this project had changed his mind about the scope, content, and tone of the work.  I didn't want to hire a writer and THEN change the scope of the job description.  I will be choosing a writer or two next by July 2nd.

I am seeking a creative ghostwriter to write two chapters (to start) of a book on cosmetic surgery.  

This book will be an "Introduction to Plastic Surgery." The goal of the book is to educate and inform potential patients about different common surgical procedures. Each chapter will focus on a common have a similar format, with the sections like these:

1)  A success story/testimonial from a client's perspective.  These come from the client themeselves.  They need to edited.
2)  Background on the procedure
3)  Answering of "The Big Four":  What Am I Going To Look Like When I'm Done?  Will It Hurt? How Much Will It Cost?  How Quickly Will I Be Back On My Feet/Back To Work?
4)  "Fast Facts" - peppered throughout the chapter
5)  Bulleted summary of the chapter
6)  Questions to ask
7)  Checklists for the procedure

The chapters are also to be written with to be broken down into separate special reports. While this book is a marketing piece, it will look and feel like any book you would purchase from a major bookstore. The final product will be professionally designed and published.

To start, I am looking for a ghostwriter to do the following:

Write two  chapters of this book on a general plastic surgery topic. I will give you specific details on the chapters once we have come to an agreement.  I have interviews with the surgeon transcribed that I will give to you - this will provide the majority of the material you need to write the chapter.

Some notes about the book:

STYLE: The book should be extremely conversational.  This book is going to be an opportunity for the reader to connect with the doctor. The book is designed to explain plastic surgery in simple, approachable language.  The book is designed to remove the stigma of plastic surgery. This book is by no means a treatise on plastic surgery – and you do not need a medical degree to write (or read) the book.  This book is a simple introduction to the subject and the types of procedures.

TARGET AUDIENCE: The book will be targeted primarily towards women. The book should address all of the bigger questions that the demographic (30-55 year old women) have on their minds.

STRUCTURE:  
Each chapter should be approximately 2000-2500 words.

These should not sound too “schlocky,” but they should be interesting enough to pull the reader in and keep them engaged.  In each chapter, there should be dual readership paths with creative subheads as well. We are going to fill the book with quotes, photos of the doctors, and other graphics.  We are going to make this book pretty and easy to read quickly.  If there are any spaces in the chapters that benefit from graphics, pictures, or photographs…please feel free to include a placeholder and we will provide them later.

ORIGINALITY: I want original material for the book, and all content will be checked to ensure originality.  

YOUR PROPOSAL:
I am looking to have this work completed within two weeks of it being assigned.  If you don't think you can complete the initial part of the project in that amount of time, please don't put a bid in.

I would like to establish mutually agreed upon deadlines/benchmarks for various stages of the project - not just the ultimate deadline.  For example, if two chapters are to be delivered in two weeks, then perhaps the first chapter will be due at the end of week one.  

I am looking for a writer to continue this relationship with and write subsequent chapters - we have a number of books planned.  

In order for me to consider you for this project (and possibly select you), you need to put the word "TOM" as the first word in the subject line of your bid proposal.  I do this to eliminate a large number of bids I will receive from folks using bots to post bids and those who don't read my proposal.  I will not accept any bid without "TOM" in the first  line of the project regardless of how good your qualifications are.

Also, please make sure your bid in all-inclusive. I will not pay down
the road for the unforeseen, obvious changes that may be required.  As
a professional, I expect you to know what the scope of work for this
will be.
