Description: This project is to take 19 audio reels of spoken letters circa 1968-69 and convert them to audio CD(s) of sufficient quality that the contents can be later converted to Word files by a skilled transcriptionist. These are three-inch reels of 1/4 inch audio tape stored after playback in a cardboard box for 40 years unplayed.

CD sound is paramount. Hiss and other recording artifacts are acceptable so long as necessary clarity is achieved for accurate transcription. Tape speed at recording may have been inconsistent depending on battery strength on the two Sony TC-123 tape recorders 10,000 miles apart. A Southern accent may be an added challenge.

In addition, the successful bidder needs to provide some consistent indexing method whereby all transcribed words that are questionable can be readily correlated to the relevant sounds on the delivered CD(s). This is not rigorously required on a word-for-word basis, rather within a sentence or two so I can easily insert the correct words (deduced by contextual clues and other sources) into the transcribed file and do not have to listen to the whole audio CD to find each questionable transcribed word.

The copyright of the original reels and the delivered CD(s) belong to me alone, and upon completion of the project to my satisfaction, including return of the original reels, and your receipt of payment via PayPal, I will need a signed letter from you to the effect that all existing copies of working materials and delivered output created by you, and all derivatives thereof in any media, have been destroyed.
